The 2025 Black History Month theme, "African Americans and Labor," is a powerful reflection on the pivotal role that the hard work of African Americans has played in shaping our country’s history. “Lift Every Voice” 

is a collaboration of various city agencies, cabinets and the IATSE (International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees) union to provide the community with an intergenerational Black History Month celebration through music, dance and spoken word; while recognizing the importance of labor in the Black experience.
