Founded in 2017 as King Boston, Embrace Boston seeks to honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr and Coretta Scott King through three interconnected efforts:

The Embrace, a living memorial on the Boston Common. The Embrace, and the 1965 Freedom Plaza that will surround it that will honor 65 other Boston civil rights icons, will spark a public conversation about how to advance racial and social justice in Boston today.

The Center for Economic Justice, which engages in research, policy development, and community organizing towards solutions for economic justice.

Embrace Ideas, a community-wide public-facing engagement series around racial and economic justice leading towards a week-long inaugural annual festival planned for June 2022.

Together, the three elements of Embrace Boston will drive civic engagement, advance measurable economic justice for residents, and introduce visitors from around the globe to this unique aspect of Boston’s past and present history.
