The State of Race is a series of in-person and virtual forums about race and racial inequality produced in partnership with GBH, GBH WORLD, NAACP Boston, and The Boston Globe.
The second forum in 2023 follows the unveiling of “The Embrace” sculpture in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King, The State of Race profiles past Boston civil rights luminaries and how their legacies continue to impact leaders in Massachusetts today.
Here is the latest edition of the series, The State of Race: Embrace Changemakers Then & Now, a conversation hosted by Paris Alston, co-host of GBH’s Morning Edition, with panelists Imari Paris Jeffries, Executive Director of Embrace Boston; Tanisha M. Sullivan, President of NAACP Boston; Jha Amazi, Principal of MASS Design Group and architect of Embrace; Sharon Scott-Chandler, President and CEO of Action for Boston Community Development and Adrian Walker, The Boston Globe Columnist/Associate Editor. They’ll discuss historic protests, lived experience and important connections inspiring transformative change happening now in Boston and beyond.
